Having ’accidentally’ become one of the top session singers and musicians in her genre in the UK, a former islander is craving her own solo career, starting with a new single, out this week.

Alanna Lyes will release her debut solo single, ’Disappear’, tomorrow (Friday), the first track released from her up-coming, as-yet untitled debut album, due out in the Autumn, produced and released through the label Freshly Squeezed.

’Disappear’ is described as dark, contemporary and jazz-infused electronica, with ’sultry, confessional and highly personal lyrics.

’Lush and deep, this music will whisper in your ear one minute and slap you round the face the next’.

Alanna, the daughter of popular local musician and promotor David McLean, grew up in Peel and now lives in York.

More by accident than design she became the go-to session singer and top-line writer for the electro swing community, and has worked with many artists, creating melodies and contributing vocals to numerous songs for labels including Wagram, Ragtime Records, Electro Swing Thing and Adapted. She has also recorded with numerous producers including Riff Kitten and Duke Skellington.

She is also a member of the electro-funk group Grinny Grandad and has performed at many UK festivals over the past couple of years.
