It’s a busy one out there this weekend with some of the island’s big hitters out entertaining the punters. Here’s a round-up of what you can expect.
If you’re out and about in Douglas on Saturday night you may want to head to Amber where you’ll be able to catch The Barefoot Revolution holding court.
The band who count Phil Hatton and new member Laura Moore, formerly of Twisted Angels on guitar duties, Steph Chambers on bass and vocals and Ste Carter on drums in their line-up, specialise in covers by the likes of Blink 182, The Offspring, Green Day and Jimmy Eat World amongst others.
The band hit the stage just after 9pm for this free show with the doors opening at 8pm.
Elsewhere 995 make a return to Sam Webb’s in Douglas in Saturday night.
The band has been out there and making themselves known to the Manx gig goers for a fair while now and after a brief hiatus last year are back out on the local live scene.
The band drop a variety of pieces into their setlist ranging from more modern offerings from the likes of One Republic and James Bay via Kings of Leon and Stereophonics to older classics from Jimi Hendrix, The Jam, Python Lee Jackson, The Cult and Steppenwolf amongst many others.
The band will hit the stage from around 9.30pm onwards.
Mae Challis kicks off the weekend early on Thursday night with the first of two shows from her and the band in Douglas.
With her debut album finally ready for release, you’ll be able to catch her on her own playing an acoustic album preview show at The Bath and Bottle.
The following night she appears with her band, including new guitarist Kev Cleator, at The Railway.
In what’s due to be one of their final shows in the island before they head to pastures new, Ignite The Sky appear at the Eargasm Rock Night at Nexus in Douglas on Friday night.
The clubnight, held between 9am and 1am pulls out a playlist featuring plenty of Rock, Alternative, Punk and Ska.
The aforementioned Ignite The Sky who count Richard Kinrade on vocals, Luke Williams and Adam Elston-Lane on guitars, Leo Craig on bass and Aaron West on drums in their line-up have been around since 2010.
Influence wise you’ll hear the likes of Architects, Asking Alexandria, A Day To Remember, Bring Me The Horizon and Slipknot.
Finally this week and on Sunday you can see this year’s annual Clifftop Concerts series continue at the tea rooms on Groudle Glen Railway.
With a line-up that leans for the most part towards the more traditional end of the spectrum musically, you can see the likes of Caarjyn Cooidjagh, Shoh Slaynt, Claasagh Harp Group, Truman Falls and The Shenanigans Banned between 11am and an 4.30pm.
