Steam Packet fast craft Manannan is to remain in Manx waters this winter.
The vessel ended her 2019 season earlier this month, maintaining a 100% technical reliability record during the whole summer.
Operating 759 sailings and travelling 51,777 nautical miles, she also operated a 98.15% punctuality record as the season drew to a close.
The Manannan will now be moored in Douglas harbour before undergoing her annual overhaul ahead of services resuming on March 27.
The Ben-my-Chree will continue to operate throughout the winter season with Manannan on stand-by until after the busy Christmas period to provide an extra degree of support for vital sea links.
In addition, MV Arrow - which the company currently has on charter - will be available to ensure freight transport is continued.
Steam Packet chief executive Mark Woodward said: ’Once again, Manannan has had a great reliability record this season and plays an invaluable role in the Company’s day-to-day operations.
’We constantly look for ways to improve services and respond to unforeseen circumstances and keeping Manannan here as a back-up strengthens that position.’
