Two former Manx resident artists returned to the Isle of Man to take part in a business and marketing fair this week.

Brothers Hugo and Sholto Brown, working under their collective name ’Id-IOM’, a self-styled pair of ’gonzo’ designers, who are based in London, were brought over to take part in the Islexpo, which ran on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

They were briefed to create two large pieces of work, which were to be painted live in the midst of the expo site in the Villa Marina gardens.

The first piece is an interactive map of the island, which people can draw on and highlight where their favourite place on the island is, or what it is about the island that they like.

Hugo said that it has been designed so that it can travel around the island to fairs and events, and be used to generate feedback on what people think of the island.

’It is designed for people to use chalk pens to write on it,’ he said.

’The next is kind of a tourist advert, but not one in the traditional tourist sense.

’We gave it a kind of an ’id-iom’ twist and it will be a huge image promoting the isle of Man. It will be colourful and it will look really good.’

’I don’t know where the big piece will go when we are finished, as it will be very big and difficult move. But it will be pretty striking and eye-catching.’

The two brothers have previously painted a mural in Guttery Gable, in Douglas town centre in 2015.
