Roads are set to close on the Mountain Course at 12.30pm as Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT organisers utilise a contingency session following heavy disruption to this week’s qualifying.
Sunday’s session was curtailed because of the weather and red-flag incident involving Italian rider Salvatore Sallutro, which resulted in him being air-lifted to hospital after coming off his machine at Greeba Bridge.
This his left organisers running out of time to get competitors qualified ahead of the first MGP races this weekend.
Sessions for both the MGP and Classic TT machines are planned this afternoon, before roads re-open at 4.30pm.
A further qualifying session will take place this evening, with roads closing for that at 6pm.
The weather, however, could yet throw a spanner in the works with the forecast predicting scattered showers early into the afternoon and into the evening.
Further contingency sessions are available to organisers on Thursday afternoon and Friday evening if required. Sunday afternoon could also be pressed into use in addition to the planned closures on Friday and Saturday.
