Tuesday evening’s Manx Grand Prix qualifying session has been abandoned after a red-flag incident at Cruickshanks corner in Ramsey.

The incident happened roughly 20 minutes into the session for Manx Grand Prix’s Senior and Supersport machines.

No further details about the incident have been released, but in an update at 7.23pm organisers confirmed that the evening’s proceedings wouldn’t be restarted.

It stated: ‘Following the red flag, the Clerk of the Course has confirmed no further qualifying will take place this evening.

‘This is due to the available road closure time remaining.’

Just after 8pm roads began to open from St Ninian’s Crossroads, but the section of the Mountain Course between between Ramsey Bus Station and Lheaney Road will remain closed for the time being.

It is third session that has been disrupted at this year’s festival.

Sunday’s opening qualifying was curtailed by a combination of the weather and a red flag incident at Greeba Castle, while Monday’s didn’t run at all because of the poor weather conditions.

Wednesday afternoon’s contingency road closures were already going to be pressed into action, prior to this evening’s abandonment.

Roads are due to close for that at 12.30pm, but again there is a threat of showers for organisers to worry about.
