Santon’s Mikey Evans won Wednesday lunchtime’s re-started Mylchreests Junior Manx Grand Prix, clocking a new lap record of 18 minutes 46.088 seconds (120.619mph).
The Martin Bullock Motorsport man, who topped the corrected time charts by 22.022 seconds from Preston’s Darren Cooper at the end of the shortened three-lap race, was one of five local residents in the top seven.
Douglas’ Jamie Williams on his Ocean Ford Honda finished third 5.786 seconds down on Cooper and a similar gap ahead of Welshman Barry Lee Evans.
Manxies Dean Osborne (Kawasaki), Joe Faragher (Honda) and Glenn Harrison (Suzuki) filled the next three positions at the conclusion of the race that was re-started after Royce Rowe crashed at Union Mills during its original running forcing a red flag.
Tuesday evening’s Newcomers A winner Brad Vicars finished an impressive ninth.
The Manx Grand Prix continues with the four-lap MGP Supporters Club Lightweight race at 2.15pm.
A senior practice lap will then take place after that with the roads due to be open at 5pm.
