Ali De Backer is 34, and lives in Ballabeg.

She is married to Sid, and has her hands full as a full time mother to three children, Fynlo, eight, Ivy, three, and Beau, two.

She is highly active in her local community, being the vice chair with the Castletown Chamber of Commerce, and is highly engaged in organising many community orientated events around the town.

She is the organiser behind the rejuvenated Castletown Market, which next takes place on Monday, August 28, and she was also behind the Balleycashtel Fairy trail which runs through the town.

Ali is also the driving force behind the Castle Community Cinema, situated in the Castletown Civic Centre, which has a vote each week on what film people would like to watch.

What is your idea of a perfect meal?

I like a meal with lots of great tasty, unusual food, eaten with great friends, preferably ones who are good at helping entertain my children!

What is your favourite way to relax?

I love sitting down and watching a film with my family around me .

What is your greatest extravagance?

My 1960’ pod chair. It is so impractical and ridiculous, but I love it.

Do you have any pets?

I have two dogs, Rodney and Clyde, who are a pair of Border/Patterdale terriers.

What is your greatest achievement?

I like to think that it is raising my army of children after the death of my first daughter, Belle.

What is your favourite time of the year?

Summer without a doubt. Everyone is happier, and it is just the best time. It is generally the time when all the outdoor events usually happen. My favourite is the music and camping festivals.

What is the first job you ever had?

I was an ice cream seller at the Shore Cafe in Port Erin age 13. It was awful, but I ate a lot of whippy 99s.

Do you have any irrational fears?

Only the normal irrational ones that all mothers have!

What is your worst habit?

Talking over people and shouting when I get excited!

What is your favourite book?

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

What is your favourite TV programme?

It would be Spaced, with Simon Pegg, or Blackadder.

What is your favourite band/artist at the moment?

The wonderful local band Biskee Bricht. They are so talented and their music is so uplifting. I love them.

What is your favourite part of the Isle of Man?

It has to be Castletown.

What is the last show/band that you saw live?

I have just seen lots of amazing and talented bands at the recent Dark Horse Festival. There were too many to list!

If time/money were no object, what would be your perfect day?

A road trip around France in an all-spec Camper Van with my family and dogs.

My dad, David Bowie and Harrison Ford.
