Ben Karran is 19 years old and originally from Onchan but now studying in Chiswick, west London. He recently played Joseph in Taylorian Productions’ summer show ’Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’.

What is your idea of a perfect meal?

Anything that involves pizza. It’s a classic but it’s a classic for a reason!

What is your favourite way to relax?

I find that binge watching a series is a great way to relax as you can simply sit down and allow yourself to get totally lost in the story.

What is your greatest extravagance?

I recently treated myself to a Marshall speaker which I’d had my eye on for a while and it hasn’t disappointed.

Do you have any pets?

I don’t have any pets, although I do beg for a dog every day. I did have two goldfish called Scooby and Shaggy but as you can probably guess they weren’t overly exciting.

What is your greatest achievement?

At this moment I would say that Joseph would top the list. It was great to be back in the island in a theatre I love, working with a great company and swishing the coat a bit when I had to!

What is your favourite time of the year?

I absolutely love Christmas. The build up and the excitement, a truly magical time! And you also get to eat a lot which is always good.

Do you have any irrational fears?

I am terrified of spiders. However I’m not sure if I would class that as irrational.

What is your worst habit?

When I get nervous I do this weird thing where I rub my hands together. It makes me look like Mr Burns from The Simpsons and I should probably stop doing it otherwise people will think I’m hatching an evil plan when really I’m just nervous!

What is your favourite book?

Probably ’The Great Gatsby’ by F Scott Fitzgerald. I studied it for my English Literature A-level and I have always loved it since.

What is your favourite TV programme?

American Horror Story. It’s incredibly dark but the acting is some the best I’ve ever seen on television and with each season following a different story it never gets boring!

What is your favourite band/artist at the moment?

I am a huge fan of Coldplay and have been since I was younger. However my favorite band at the moment would have to be Elbow. My dad introduced me to them a couple of years ago and I’ve been an avid listener ever since/

What is your favourite part of the Isle of Man?

The Point of Ayre. I love the flat stark landscape, the lighthouses and of course the occasional visit from a seal.

What is the last show/band that you saw live?

I was lucky enough to see the press night for Bat out of Hell at the London Coliseum which was a crazy jukebox musical of Meatloaf songs, the singing was amazing, the storyâ?¦not so much.
