The Isle of Man Orienteering Klubb has launched two new orienteering maps, funded by the Manx Lottery Trust, of Conrhenny Wood and Tholt-y-Will Forest and Glen.
Sarah Kelly, chairperson of the Manx Lottery Trust, started the last of events to launch the map at Conrhenny Wood in Onchan, where participants navigated their way through the wood to find the different orienteering markers on their new map.
The club thanked the trust, which also funded permanent orienteering markers at these locations, and the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture for its support in the mapping and setting up of permanent orienteering courses at these newly mapped locations.
Upcoming events include the Orienteering Klubb’s night event at Tynwald Arboretum, St John’s on Thursday, October 22. Registration is between 6.15 and 6.45pm at St John’s Church, with a mass start at 7pm.
A torch is required for this event, with maps and description sheets costing £3 for adults and £1 for children under 16.
The final event for 2020 is the annual Boxing Day event, taking place at Conrhenny Wood.
Further details about these and future events during 2021 and information about orienteering in the Isle of Man can be found on the Isle of Man Orienteering Klubb website and Facebook page.
