Singer songwriter Alex Cowley has released one of his latest songs as a new single.
Recorded under the band name Alex Cowley and the Backbeats, ’Overboard’ came out last week, available on all music streaming platforms.
Alex enlisted the help of many friends from the Manx music world to add instrumentation to the song, including The Tides singer Danny Foulis guesting on piano, Suzy Manton on backing vocals and Chris Honour on guitars Drummer Simon Talbot also produced the track.
’I felt a little like a charlatan for taking credit for this record,’ said Alex.
’Everyone who performed on it made it what it was.
’I’m happy with the record and I feel it has a slight uplifting vibe. I also felt like it was my strongest vocal so far.
’But working with people that know what they are doing makes things a lot easier. It’s great working with other musicians you respect and I know I can go to these guys again in the future.’
The artwork for the single was produced by local artist Bruno Cavellec.
Alex is also spending his nights at home performing regularly on Facebook.
Calling his impromptu live sets ’The Bedsit Sessions’, he plays some of his favourite songs on most nights at 7pm.
Among the songs covered so far are ’Desperado’ by the Eagles and ’Can’t Help Falling In Love’ by Ed Sheeran.
