First this week we have some news from the Call Me Amour camp, which has been a bit quiet of late.

Fear not, however. This is all about to change, as the band that features the ex-Yashin Harry Radford on vocals, Geoff Murphy, formerly of Uber Room and Jacoba, on guitar, Danny Hall on drums and Brian Hill on bass, release their new brand-single ’Deeper’.

For those of a certain age, some may remember this track as a very popular song from the days of Jacoba, many moons ago.

As part of the promotion for the single, the band head out on tour in support of the UK group Dinosaur Pile-Up.

The tour starts on Friday, December 6, and will see them head to Bristol, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and London.

Tomorrow night (Friday) sees Looney and The Vikings take to the stage at Jaks in Douglas.

The band, led by Dan Looney on vocals and also featuring Dave Ball on guitars, Susan Harrison on sax and keyboards, Wayne Harrison on bass and Charlie Crowe on drums present a set of covers ranging from The Beatles, The Kinks, T-Rex, The Jam and The Undertones at one end of the musical timeline, through to The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Stereophonics and The Kaiser Chiefs at the other.

They are well worth a look at if you happen to be out that way.

Compton Vaults, the little basement venue tucked away in a corner of Castletown, is busy again this weekend.

First off, tomorrow night (Friday), the duo featuring Suzy Manton and Martyn Cain will be playing, supported by Dorraghey, and the folky-acoustic pop fellows Biskee Bisht will be playing live on Saturday night, from 9pm.

Also this Saturday night, if you’re a fan of all things Bon Jovi you may want to head to The Basement Bar, in Nelson Street,Douglas.

Bon Jelski, featuring the lead vocals of Mike Jelski, pull out a set that delves deep and across all eras of the Bon Jovi back catalogue.

Expect earlier career cuts like Runaway, Living On A Prayer, You Give Love A Bad Name, I’ll Be There For You and Bed Of Roses to the later cuts, like It’s My Life, Someday I’ll Be Saturday Night, In The Arms and These Days.

It’s free entry and the band hit the stage for a two-hour set from about 9.00pm.
