This week, the Manx Sound Exchange brings you news of another band jetting off across the waters, and showing British audiences just what a musically-talented bunch we are over here.

Sunset Jet are playing a couple of gigs in the north west of England next week.

The indie four-piece, featuring the talents of singer and guitarist Brad Meechan, guitarist Dan Webb, bassist Marcus Breese and drummer Jonathan Sutherland are headlining two shows.

Their first gig takes place in Warrington, where they will be at the LiveBars venue, backed up by local band Hollow Lane, on Friday, October 19.

Then, on the following night, they journey to the Verve bar, in Leeds, where they will be supported by three groups, John Parry, the Candidates and The Cavs.

The group are understandably made up to be getting ready for their first UK shows, and say that they have come about following an extensive year of playing around the island.

’The trips been funded entirely off playing around the island pretty much every week this year,’ said singer Brad.

’We’ve been going about 12 months or so now and we’ve been hitting it really hard.’

The group have also been busy on the recording front, releasing several singles over the past 12 months, including their first single, ’Nice Guy’, released last November, followed by ’W.D.Y.B’, , ’Messiah’, ’Live the Masquerade’, ’Wine Drunk’ and their latest track, ’Scarlett’, released in August.

So committed are the band that they have even recently moved into a shared house together to concentrate fully on the group.

’We want to put a shout out to everyone’s who’s been down to see us, worn our merchandise, made instagram accounts and just generally supported us,’ said Brad.

’They really helped us get a foot in the door across.’

Good luck with the gigs, lads.

Closer to home, the Mitre, in Ramsey celebrated opening the island’s newest venue at the weekend.

Formerly known as the Schooner bar, the re-branded ’Cooil’ bar welcomed the Shads and Baad Acid to official christen the stage.

This weekend sees indie covers group Lazy Daze head to the Mitre, appearing on Saturday, from 8pm
