This weekend saw a wealth of local talent entertain the crowds at the Isle of Man Food Festival.
The festival stage, provided by the hard-working Stu Gentry, from Flo the Coffee Van, saw performances from many local singers and groups.
Eugene Wilson got things started on the Saturday, with an early afternoon set, and was followed by a storming hour’s worth of music by Lee Brooks.
He was followed by the mellow and laid-back sounds of Alice Dudley and Al Bell, in the guise of Poster Girl, treating the sun-baked crowds to a set of lo-fi gems, and Brian Brough saw the afternoon off in fine style with a collection of covers, including a couple of Fleetwood Mac songs.
The evening sounds came from the folk-rock funksters Clash Vooar and three members of Birds and the Beards, namely Nell Kneale, Steph Tomlinson and cajon player Neil Bagshaw.
The festival music carried on into the late hours with a storming, rocky set from Mae Challis and her group who, amongst other songs, played a brilliant version of Royal Blood’s ’Figure It Out’.
It was definitely music worth stuffing your face to.
Elsewhere, the island’s favourite hip-hop crew, Han-FX, Jor-DMC and the Innuendo Orchestra are heading off to take part in the Equinox Festival.
Based in Chalk Farm, in Lincolnshire, and featuring a line-up of dance, soul, funk and folk acts, it is the second time they have appeared at the festival, and this year they will grace the Crispi Disco stage, along with the likes of Senser and Slamboree.
Down at that most convivial of venues, Compton Vaults, in Castletown, the hard rock trio Final Cut, featuring Ian Astill, Ross Doyle and Luke Chambers will be pounding out the riffs tomorrow night (Friday).
