Two students from the island have joined West End leading lady Kerry Ellis to record a charity single for NSPCC’s Childline.
Kerry Ellis has starred in We Will Rock You, Wicked, Les Miserables and Cats amongst others.
Robyn-Mae Lawler, 15 from Onchan, and Molly Kreisky, 13 from Douglas, joined 1,000 stage students to sing ’A Million Dreams’ from The Greatest Showman.
The recording was made in August and is now live on itTunes and YouTube.
The trip costs to attend the West End Stage summer school was partly funded by the Isle of Man Arts Council.
Robyn-Mae said: ’I would like to thank the Arts Council for helping to fund this amazing experience.
’Meeting Kerry Ellis and recording a song for charity was such a great experience.’
The students who took part in the single were aged between eight and 21 and including 52 different nationalities including Australian, Cambodian, Indonesian and of course, Manx.
Molly added: ’This was my second year at WES and I loved every minute of it.
’I enjoyed working with professional actors from the industry and making friends with people from all over the world.
’I was so proud to perform at Her Majesty’s theatre in front of my friends and family and, of course, singing with Kerry Ellis on her charity single was the icing on the cake.’
The pair have both returned to the island stage. Robyn-Mae starred in HONK!, at Ballakermeen High School. Molly will be in Parker & Snell Company’s Christmas production of Cinderella.
