Do you fancy getting the kids out into the midst of nature, and away from the ipad and gadgets?

Also, would they be fascinated by spiders, eels, lizards and velvet swimming crabs?

Well, the Manx Wildlife Trust’s Summer Ticket is back.

With the scheme being such a success with families during the holidays last year, the Manx Wildlife Trust have brought it back for a following year with 10 events organised at a cost of just £10.

The summer-long event will launch on 2pm to 4pm, Wednesday July 26, at Cronk-y-Bing nature reserve, which has a rich and diverse range of wildlife, from the Labyrinth spiders, hiding in their funnel shaped webs to seabirds nesting along the shore line.

There are all sorts of activities and days out to keep the kids entertained through the weeks of the summer holiday.

With equipment provided for all activities and terrains, together with expert guidance from experienced naturalists, this is a great opportunity to reveal the vast amounts of unique nature on our island.

In small, manageable groups, not only will they gain invaluable experience and knowledge, but it’s a fun day out for all of the family at a good-value cost.

Parents of children who took part in last year’s scheme described the experience as a ’fantastic series of activities’ where they ’formed endless happy memories’, learnt a great deal about Manx wildlife and and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Dawn Dickens, MWT’s biodiversity education officer said: ’These events are a great way for children to have fun outdoors and learn lots about the natural world.

’Whether delving into rock pools or building a den, activities are designed to harness a child’s natural curiosity and send them home tired but happy.’

As an added bonus, children who attend seven of the sessions or more will be presented a Hedgehog Award of a badge and a certificate to show that they are well on the way to becoming ’nature’s champions’.

A Summer Season Pass costs just £10 per child or is free to family or WATCH members of Manx Wildlife Trust, and can be obtained online or from trust’s shop in Peel.

The Manx Wildlife Trust looks forward to seeing as many children and families as possible.
