To make up for the lack of opportunities to get out and play, a local group have used the lockdown period to release some new music.
Electro rock duo Mark E Moon are to release a new single later this month.
The group are set to release ’Animals’ on January 29, through the German-based record label Cold Transmission.
’Animals’ is described by the band as being a ’dark synth-pop song with an up-tempo catchy beat and a real earworm of a chorus’.
Singer Mark Sayle describes the themes of the song as walking through the underbelly of a city nightlife, and said that the song is an invitation to ’take a walk with Mark E Moon down a dark road. Into a world populated by clubbers and bouncers, addicts and dealers, sex workers and their clientele. The very best and the very worst of us. In the seedy underbelly of a dying city in the cold embrace of night.’
The song is written by Mark and fellow band member, producer Phil Reynolds, and they are joined by guitarist Kieran Ball and Marie Reynolds, with further contributions from Mikie Daugherty and Dan Ankers on backing vocals.
The song was mixed and mastered by Phil and produced by Phil and Dan.
The cover artwork is by local artist Hazel Walsh and is titled ’Heart Of Darkness’.
Mark E Moon have one album behind them already, ’Refer’, which was released in 2019, also through the Cold Transmission label.
They performed at numerous festivals in Europe during 2020 and are planning to release their second album later this year.
