The Isle of Man Natural History and Antiquarian Society will continue its winter programme with a lecture on one of the island’s oldest buildings this Saturday.

Fenella Logan will give a presentation entitled ’Maughold Parish Church: a structural analysis’ in the Manx Museum lecture theatre, Douglas, at 2.30pm.

Ms Logan says: ’The fabric of Maughold Church has a long history, influenced by socio-religious, political and economic change. A timeline for the evolution of the church over its 1,000-year (plus) existence is proposed.

’The proposal has been developed through a thorough structural analysis of the building, consideration of how its fixed features relate to one another, reviewing all available sources, and studying the remaining architectural fragments.’

As with all IoMNHAS presentations, those attending are advised to arrive early to be sure of a seat. The talk will be followed by tea and biscuits. Non-members attending the lecture will be invited to make a small donation.

The society’s winter programme will continue on Saturday, February 26, with Manx National Heritage’s Jude Dicken, Andrew Johnson and Laura McCoy giving a presentation entitled ’Digital collections: Newspapers, Wildlife and the Historic Environment’.
