Do you have an idea for an article in Isle of Man Newspapers? Or do you want to understand more about what the editor’s role involves?

Well now is your chance to put your questions to our editor Richard Butt and the team, as Isle of Man Newspapers holds a Meet the Editor event this weekend.

Isle of Man Newspapers - the company behind the Courier, Examiner and Manx Independent as well as the iomtoday website - will have a stand in the foyer of Shoprite’s Victoria Road, Douglas store on Saturday (June 23).

We will also be conducting a readers’ survey.

Everyone who completes it will be entered into a draw to win a £10 Shoprite voucher.

Richard said: ’Whether you’re in charge of doing the public relations for your local club or organisation and want to get more publicity or you’re interested in how a newspaper is put together, everyone is welcome to come along to ask their questions.

’We will be able to advise you on the most effective way to get your press releases picked up by us.

’And if you think there’s an issue affecting the island that we haven’t yet covered in our papers, come and tell us about it.’

The three newspaper titles and the iomtoday website feature the latest news, business, sport and entertainment from across the island, as well as features and regular columns.

Richard said: ’Producing our titles and maintaining the iomtoday website is a very demanding but hugely rewarding job for the hard-working and dedicated editorial team.

’The team has to react quickly as stories develop and write clearly and accurately to meet tight deadlines.

’Our aim is to be at the heart of the island’s community and to be able to do that most effectively, we would welcome feedback from our readers.

’So, if you’re free on Saturday do come along and share your views on what you’d like to see more of from us.’

The Isle of Man Newspapers stand will be running at Victoria Road Shoprite, in Douglas, on Saturday, June 23, from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.
