An amber weather warning has been issued for large waves around the Isle of Man on Saturday.

Ronaldsway Met Office says exposed coastal areas could be affected between 11.30am and 2.30pm.

A large spring high tide, expected at around 1pm, will coincide with fairly strong winds, resulting in large waves breaking over some exposed coastal areas for several hours.

Forecasters say some debris is also likely to be brought ashore, particularly in places exposed to the south or southwest.

Areas specifically highlighted include Shore Road, Castletown promenade, the more northern parts of Douglas promenade and the promenades in Laxey and Ramsey.

The amber warning was issued by Ronaldsway Met Office at 5pm on Friday.

The adverse conditions are expected to ease after 2.30pm on Saturday.
