The London Manx Society is to hold a church aervice and mhelliah on October 14.

It will take place at the Church of St Bride’s, Fleet Street, London, EC4Y 8AU from noon.

That will be followed as usual by the social event, which will take place immediately after the service close by in The Punch Tavern, 99 Fleet Street, London, EC4Y 1DE.

The cost will be £20 per head, including lunch with a selection of dishes, juice, tea or coffee - to be collected at the event.

The society will also have the traditional raffle.

The organisation wants those going to help its funds by supplying no more than one or two suitable items for the raffle and by purchasing generously.

To book a place, ring Sam Weller, the society’s treasurer on 01223 720607.

A mhelliah is a Celtic harvest festival.

These days many are held in pubs and produce and other items are bidded for in an auction.
