A wide range of weird and wonderful, custom and specialised motorbikes were on display on Peel promenade during TT week.

The annual Moddey Dhoo bike show took place on Marine Parade during the Thursday afternoon of race week, and attracted a variety of vintage and modern motorbikes, scooters, sidecars and trikes.

Prizes were handed out for different classes of motorbikes, with top ’best in show’ prize being awarded to Danny Ollard, who displayed his hand-built Harris Magnum motorbike.

Other prizes were awarded for the best paint job, which went to Steve Springer’s painted Lambretta, which was covered with a tribute to Joey Dunlop.

Andy Scullard, from the Moddey Dhoo bike club, said that numbers of visitors were down on last year, due to the unfortunate clash with the revised TT timetable, but they were still able to attract a great number of entries.

’Unfortunately, it is just one of those things,’ said Andy.

’It wasn’t just us that got affected by the change in the TT schedules.

’Everyone was affected, and it’s just our bad luck that the only day they managed to get a full day of racing was on the same day as our bike show.

’Normally we would have expected to attracted crowds of many thousands. We certainly did last year.

’However, there are a lot of people who bring their custom bikes over to the island specifically for this show, so we were still able to see some amazing entries, and we put on a very good afternoon.

’We are now looking to Manx Grand Prix Week, where we will be having our next bike show.

’We are moving to the other side of the prom to tie in with the Manx VCC display, which will be held near to Spit Corner, on Tuesday, August 27.’
