Roadworks at the Ballacraine crossroads have left commuters facing more delays having already experienced months of disruption.

Work began earlier this week and 24-hour four-way traffic signals will be in operation in place of the existing traffic lights while an electrical cable installation is carried out.

The work is being carried out ahead of the planned installation of replacement traffic lights for the busy crossroads which link the north, south, east and west of the island.

The road itself had only just fully reopened after months of delays to work on the Curragh Road which heads along lower St John’s from the crossroads and on towards Foxdale and the south of the island.

A Department of Infrastructure spokesman confirmed the temporary lights will be in place for about two weeks.
