The A18 Mountain Road is set to remain closed in stages this week as race-related equipment is removed following the 2026 Manx Grand Prix.

The northern section between Ramsey Hairpin and the Bungalow is closed today (Monday) and will close again Tuesday and Wednesday to allow the safe removal of equipment from the north end of the Mountain Road.

The closures are in place daily from 9.30am until 4pm.

The Department of Infrastructure said the arrangements had been put in place to allow the work to be carried out safely, with the road expected to reopen by 4pm each day.

The closures will then move to the southern section of the Mountain Road.

The stretch between the Bungalow and Creg-ny-Baa will close on Thursday and Friday, September 10 and 11, between 9.30am and 4pm.

The Department said the closures were necessary for the removal of race equipment.

The staged approach follows the earlier removal of temporary speed restrictions associated with the Manx Grand Prix.

Highway Services had previously advised that the temporary MGP-period speed limits on approaches to the Mountain Road would be stood down on Tuesday, September 1, in accordance with the relevant temporary speed limit order.

A closure between Ramsey and Creg-ny-Baa was also scheduled on that date to allow signage to be safely removed.

The Department had subsequently confirmed that the remaining race equipment would be removed during the week beginning September 7.

Motorists are being advised to take the closures into account when planning journeys across the island this week.

The closures are expected to be lifted outside the stated working hours, allowing the route to reopen to traffic each afternoon.

Highway Services is carrying out the work as part of the wider takedown of the TT Course following this year’s racing events.
