The mountain road between the Bungalow and Creg-ny-Baa will close this evening from 6.30pm and 10.30pm to allow urgent repairs to the carriageway surface at the Brandywell junction.
The recent hot weather has led to damage being caused whereby excess bitumen is bleeding through the existing dressing, reducing the texture of the surface.
Work must be undertaken before any significant rainfall, which may cause the road to become very slippery.
Machinery from off-island currently being used on the Department of Infrastructure’s surface redressing programme will be used to undertake the work.
The road is closing every afternoon from the Ramsey Hairpin to Creg-ny-Baa until July 19, except for Sunday, for a publicity stunt for the German car firm Audi.
