A Douglas shop has raised more than £800 for charity through the sale of reusable bags.

Mountain Warehouse on Strand Street presented a cheque worth £832 to Hospice Isle of Man as part of the company’s Charity Bag campaign.

The campaign, which took place last year, saw its 250 stores across the UK and Ireland support a locally registered charity of their choice by selling fabric bags with 100% of the profits being donated. Almost £100,000 was raised by all shops last year.

The initiative is taking place again this year and finishes at the end of July.

Each shop provides five charity bag designs for customers to choose from, which cost £1.99 each.

A spokesman said: ’Here at Mountain Warehouse we are passionate about supporting our customers and the communities surrounding our stores, so we wanted to give a little something back.

’Each store has been asked to nominate a charity within their community, one they feel passionate about the work they do within their local area. We have partnered with over 200 charities and we are thrilled to be working with them to raise awareness of the fantastic work they do.’
