Local wildlife experts will be swarming over a nature reserve at an open day in the south of the island later this month.

The southern branch of the Manx Wildlife Trust are holding an open day at the Ballachurry wetlands nature reserve on Saturday, August 31, from 2.30pm.

Members of the group will be on hand to help children and families identify species of bugs and butterflies and to learn more about fungi, wildflowers, bats and birds that inhabit the area.

The free event will also include a family bug hunt and the judging of a children’s photography competition .
