Business members jumped into a two-day course run by an outdoor adventure company to develop their decision-making skills.
Adventurous Experiences, which provides a range of adventure programmes, delivered it’s first ’risk utilisation’ scheme to Nedbank Private Wealth International teams from the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey.
The 12 team members completed the ’highly challenging and exciting’ two days, covering skills of evaluating, planning, physical training and team mission through adventure sports.
Led by Keirron Tastagh, who has been a full-time professional coach for 20 years, the course involved sea kayaking, navigation, coasteering and communication skills - with the Adventurous Experiences’ coaching team on hand.
Keirron said: ’Real skills are learnt by experiencing success and "failure". Generating options, then doing the right thing at the right time, takes practice. I’m really excited by how powerful this style of active learning is. It’s the understanding that priorities change and people develop that ensures we enhance the learning experience for all participants. People need to ask why? People need to be shown why. People need to feel why. People need to know why.’
Nedbank Private Wealth International’s head of human resources, Grace Eames, said: ’Every participant came away with a clear self-evaluation of individual strengths. Furthermore, it showcased the island as the exemplary training environment we know it to be.’
