Work continues apace on the construction of a new housing estate at Ballasalla.
Diggers are in action on the land between Glashen Hill on Douglas Road.
Some 282 homes will be built by developer Dandara is two phases in a scheme that will also include the construction of a by-pass.
Dandara secured planning consent for the development (19/00137/B) in August.
It will be a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, both single and two-storey, with construction in two phases of 135 and 147 houses respectively.
A further phase three will look at creating a new roundabout and facilities such as shops.
This development will fund a link road that will begin with a roundabout at Glashen Hill, cross the Steam Railway of a new bridge, and end at Balthane Corner near the entrance to Balthane industrial estate.
Planning consent was granted on the condition that work on the new bypass will begin no later than the completion of the 75th house - and no houses in phase two of the development are built until the new road is finished.
The southern end of the by-pass will be the responsibility of the government to complete. It will involve the demolition of a number of properties including Balthane Cottage, which dates back to 1785. A new roundabout will be created, replacing the one installed last year.
