Forty-six public sector houses in Ramsey are to get new kitchens before the end of the year.
The commissioners have obtained a quote for the provision of kitchen units and worktops for all 18 properties at Close y Chibbyr Ghlass.
The installation will be carried out in-house and will be funded through the housing maintenance fund.
New hearting boilers are also being installed in these units. The work is due to start towards the end of the year.
In addition, funding of £215,000, repayable within 15 years, has been secured through the government’s Kitchen Framework Agreement to replace 28 kitchens in various properties around the town.
Tenants have chosen their preferred colour of flooring, worktop and unit doors.
The work will be carried out by Tooms Bros and the units will be supplied by Magnet (IOM). Work will begin after TT with a planned completion date of August 7.
