A set of new orienteering maps and courses will be launched over the next month at various locations in the west of the island.
There will be four events starting tonight (Thursday) at Knockaloe Beg Farm in Patrick at 6.30pm.
Tonight’s event is a free training event for those wanting to develop orienteering navigation skills.
There will then be an event to launch a new map and permanent course on Saturday, May 13, at Knockaloe Beg Farm, from midday to 2pm.
An historic Peel Town orienteering map and course will be launched to celebrate World Orienteering Day on Wednesday, May 24, from 6.30pm until 7.30pm.
The start location for this will be western end of Peel promenade, beside the harbour footbridge.
On Bank Holiday Monday, May 29, another map and course will be launched for Corrin’s Tower and Peel Hill. The start location for this launch is the grass area above Fenella Beach car park starting at 10am. Map launch events cost £1, including a map and description sheet. Anyone attending is asked to wear suitable clothing and footwear - and bring a pen.
