The Erin Arts Centre is to restart its long-running series of screening top class operatic productions, performed and filmed at New York Metropolitan Opera.

The arts centre are to exclusively screen six performances from the prestigious American opera house, beginning next weekend with a performance of Rigoletto, a brand new production of the Verdi classic, directed by Bartlett Sher and starring Rosa Feola, Piotr Beczala, and Quinn Kelsey.

It will be screened on Saturday, January 29, from 5.55pm.

The live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning ’Live in HD’ series, bringing the high-class opera shows to theatres across the globe.

Also coming up in the first half of this year is Strauss’ masterpiece, ’Ariadne auf Naxos’, which will be shown on Saturday, March 12, followed by Don Carlos, screened on April 2, Bursoni’s ’Turandot’, shown on May 7, Donizetti’s dramatic masterpiece ’Lucia di Lammermoor’, on May 21 and an operatic re-working of Shakespeare’s Hamlet on June 4.

The price includes refreshments during the play interval.
