Fancy a sing-along? Members of the public are welcome to attend a new social group at Beaconsfield Residential Home in Ramsey.

The Beaconsfield Activities and Friendship Group was set up last month by events organiser Ellan Scott and resident Mary Saealle-Koster, with the permission of manager Kath Blues.

Mary said: ’Requests for favourite hymns and popular songs were taken and all sung with great enthusiasm.

’After a while we started laughing and it turned into bit of a Manx skeet. It was brilliant hearing the stories of the way people lived generations back.

’The chef and his kitchen brigade provided a magnificent Victoria sponge cake all prettily decorated.

’The second meeting was held on January 31. By special request, the afternoon opened with a short religious service beginning with the hymn "All things bright and beautiful" - a favourite hymn and all sang with great pleasure.

’This group meets every second Wednesday of each month in the upstairs lounge at 2pm,’ she explained.

The next event will be held at the residential home located at The Close, Jurby Road, on Wednesday, February 14.
