A dedication of a new branch standard for Castletown and District Branch of the Royal British Legion has been held.
The new standard will be taken to Ypres shortly by branch standard bearer Jim Cottier, who will be accompanying the Isle of Man Women’s Institute choir, who will be singing at the Menin Gate Last Post Ceremony on Sunday, October 8.
Also unveiled was a blue heritage plaque honouring all those men from Queen Street in Castletown who served and died during the Great War of 1914-1918.
The plaque will be hung in Queen Street during Remembrance tide.
Pictured holding the plaque is branch president Alwyn Collister and branch standard bearer Jim Cottier.
Also pictured are members of the branch and Isle of Man County, reverend Erica Scott, of King Williams College and the venerable archdeacon Andie Brown, county padre for the Legion, who officiated at the service together with fellow standard bearers and members of Castletown Town Commissioners and Castletown Silver Band.
