Beach Buddies will be holding a beach clean on New Year’s Day ’with a difference’.

The charity is encouraging volunteers to take part in the clean for the annual new year’s dip.

Volunteers will be cleaning up the beach and removing seaweed and any other items to make it ’as safe as possible’ for what Beach Buddies expects to be a record number of dippers.

The new year’s dip event will raise money for Beach Buddies and Breast Cancer Now. Those who can help are asked to be at the beach in front of the Queen’s Hotel on Douglas Promenade at 10.30am, January 1.

Beach Buddies has recommended it would be ’very useful’ to bring garden tools, such as a rake or fork.

Any volunteers who want to take part in the dip itself can register online in advance or on the day from 11am.
