Towns around the island are getting ready to light their firework displays for this year’s Bonfire Night.

The display in Douglas will take place at 7.15pm on November 3, starting with the Best Guy competition which will be judged by the Mayor Debbie Pitts.

Entries must be submitted between 6.45pm and 7.10pm near the War Memorial with prize awards being given towards the end of the month at Douglas town hall.

A bonfire will be lit on the promenade beach at 7.30pm, followed by fireworks at 7.40pm that will be set from a barge moored opposite the War Memorial.

If weather conditions cause the event to be cancelled, the Douglas Borough Council will stage the display on the following Saturday or Sunday.

Peel Commissioners are also holding an event on Friday, 3 November, starting with the bonfire display at 7pm and fireworks at 7.30pm.

Fireworks will be lit from Peel Breakwater, which spectators can view easily from Marine Parade and Shore Road.

The Ramsey display will begin at 7pm on November 5 from Mooragh Park, where refreshments will be available on site. Cafes will also be open until late.

Port Erin will be holding an event on November 5 at 7.30pm, where spectators will have the opportunity to light Scandinavian candles along the beach front.

Businesses near the shore will be selling soup, snacks and refreshments, while collection buckets will be collecting donations to help towards the cost of the event.

A display will be taking place at Laxey Fire Station on November 4, starting from 6.30pm. Hot food and drinks will be served and any money raised on the night will go towards The Fire Fighters Charity.

Members of the public have been asked not to bring their own fireworks or pets to the shows to avoid any serious accidents.
