Douglas Council has suspended its kerbside recycling service.

It says it made the decision to protect its staff from transmission of the virus.

Both the capital and Braddan are affected.

The situation will be reviewed in two weeks’ time.

The council doesn’t have to collect recyclables by law.

It suggests that householders whouldstockpile their recyclables - in particular glass bottles and cans - until it can resume the service.

The eastern district civic amenity site at Middle River is closed until further notice.

Bring banks, however, are currently remaining open.
