A motorsport instructor who had to hang up his keys after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) will tackle the 37.73 miles of the TT course on his mobility scooter as part of his UK-wide fundraising efforts.

At the start of 2016 Noel Wilson, from Milton Keynes, set up Motor Sport for MS, a charity that has seen him take his 8mph mobility scooter and set lap times around the UK.

His charity aims to raise £20,000 for MS research, donating funds raised to both the MS Society and the Milton Keynes MS Group.

So far, he has raised £8,400.

Noel said he would be taking on the iconic TT circuit next week.

’We hope to take on the course on the morning of Tuesday or Wednesday this is weather dependent.

’If the weather is too bad on the Tuesday we hold it over to the Wednesday.’

Noel added: ’Once I was diagnosed, I went downhill rapidly. Motor Sport for MS was formed from half a box of red wine, my warped mind and a determination to carry on and not give up.’

The year 2016 saw 10 different circuits completed and Noel has more events planned for this year, including a visit to Guernsey to tackle the Val des Terres Hill Climb.

Noel got in touch with the Mannin Hotel, Douglas, through a motor sport friend who was staying there for the Isle of Man Rally, and through discussions with the hotel, has set up a deal, for him and his crew to stay there for the 10 days of his trip to the island.

He said:

’The Mannin Hotel, has been very accommodating and supportive in my quest to complete the TT course, and are hosting a meet and greet evening on Sunday 16 April at the hotel, which will be open to all.’

’My MS is progressing quite fast now so I don’t know if I will be able to do this next year, but I am certainly going to do all the main race circuits before then.’
