Islnd Beaver Scouts have enjoyed a five-a-side football competition.
The annual competition was held at the Tommy Clucas Sports Hall in Peel with eight colonies taking part.They were Ballaugh, 1st Douglas Buggane, 1st Douglas Loaghtan, 2nd Onchan Tuesday, 2nd Onchan Thursday, Peel Tuesday, Peel Friday and Ramsey. In total, there were 11 teams, split into two leagues with the winning team from each group playing in the final.
Across the afternoon there were 43 goals scored.
Before the final, Aaron Rumney, a young leader from Onchan, played goalkeeper as every Beaver took penalties against him.
There were two Beavers tied who couldn’t be separated by the end Aidan from Ramsey and Henry from Onchan Tuesday.
The final was played between Peel Year Three and Onchan Thursday Bulls with Onchan winning 1-0.
All the Beavers in the final were awarded medals as were the two Beavers who won the penalty contest.
The winners, Onchan Thursday Bulls, were presented with the Football Shield and a replica and Peel received a runners -up shield.
Beverly Hawson, assistant Island Commissioner, said: ’It was a great afternoon.
’The Beavers had lots of fun and thoroughly enjoyed the games and the penalty competition.
’I have heard that the younger Beavers at Peel are already talking about next year.’
