Onchan AFC’s youngest players have new football kits.
The team established junior teams 14 years ago and has since grown to be one of the biggest clubs on the island.
The under 12s have had multiple wins in both league and cup competitions over the years, with a number of players progressing through the club and now featuring in its senior teams.
Head coach of the Onchan Under 12s team, Scott Wilson, said: ’My initial targets are always the same. For the children to enjoy playing football, to improve social skills and interaction and to build on teamwork and team spirit. From there I ask them to be the best they can and we see where that takes us.
’This season we are in a competitive league but we are feeling very confident of our success for 2018/19.’
Building company Dandara has paid for the new kits.
Mr Wilson said: ’At an age when all of the players have moved up to high school and require new uniforms, PE kits, trainers, football boots, stationery and so on, finances for parents can be stretched and I know first-hand how grateful they are for Dandara’s generosity. It really does help a lot, thank you!’
