The main path in Groudle Glen will be closed from Monday for a week while work is undertaken to remove debris from Groudle River.

Announcing the closure, the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture, which maintains the glen, said: ‘Urgent work to remove a rockslide from the river in Groudle Glen will commence on Monday, September 26 and run for approximately one week.

‘It will require the closure of the pedestrian entrance next to the old Groudle Hotel and the path leading down past the waterwheel.

‘A section of King Edward Road will also be closed to vehicles during the work to facilitate the use of a large crane.’

‘Public access to Groudle Railway will be maintained via Groudle Beach and Lhen Coan entrances.’
