Eight-time TT champion Dan Sayle has added another trophy to his collection.

He was named world bonnag champion - earning him the Isle of Man Creamery Buttermilk Cup - at this year’s competition, held at Dalby Schoolrooms.

Judge Tony Quirk named Elizabeth Clegg the ladies’ champion and Isabelle Bridson was the winner of the children’s class.

Nicky Kermode, of Green’s Restaurant in St John’s, came top in the commercial category.

Julie Boyle won the gluten-free class.

The prizes were presented by Kim Makin, representing event sponsor Shoprite.

Laxey Glen Mills provided sourdough flour to all entrants.

Entertainment was provided by Dot Tilbury and friends.

It included a lively re-enactment of Dan Sayle’s crash at the 2018 Festival of Motorcycling, which saw Dan using spoons as goggles and the back of a chair as his bike.

Other entertainment came from Manx Bard Annie Kissack and magician Juan Corrin.

Proceeds from the event, including the auction of all of the bonnags, will be divided between Mannin Sepsis, The Pahar Trust Nepal and the church restoration fund.
