After more than 20 years of performing in front of thousands of fans, one of the island’s largest groups have rung the division bell and called time on their long career.

Pigs on the Wing, the Isle of Man’s own top-rated Pink Floyd tribute band, have decided to call it a day.

The group, led by the twin guitar partnership of life-long friends James Craig and Peter Williamson, originally formed in 1995, while they were still at school.

The first incarnation of the band played their first gig at the tiny Iron Pier, in Ramsey, and soon found themselves performing to an audience of 4,500 in the Villa Marina gardens during TT week.

Other notable concerts and events include a tour of the UK, early on in their career, and many gigs in both the Villa Marina and in 2015 played the classic ’Dark Side of the Moon’ album in full, at the Gaiety Theatre, complete with a stunning light show and full stage production.

The final line up, which featured bassist Richard Raine, keyboard player Chris Glaister, drummer Steve Leach and saxophonist Sammie Johnson, along with a host of backing singers, played their last gig at Port st Mary Town Hall over the Christmas period.

Past members include the much-missed drummer, Roger Leece, and top international singer Christine Collister also appeared.

’In this final chapter of the Pigs history, guitarist and founder member James has decided to call it a day and hang up his trotters for the very last time,’ said bassist Richard.

’So, sadly, there will be no more Pigs on the Wing.

’It has been a blast. We have had so many laughs and good times and we’ve made many friends along the way.

’It’s a shame that we won’t have the opportunity for a "farewell" gig, but that’s just the way it is.

’To everyone who has come along, bought tickets and supported the band (some of whom have been with us from the very beginning), to all past and present members, the bands and individuals who have played alongside us and last but certainly not least, to our loyal support crew, Andy, Coatesy, and Ali, a huge thank you to you all.’
