An appeal has been lodged against planners’ refusal to change the use of the former Liverpool Arms pub in Main Road, Baldrine.

Planners refused a bid submitted by owners Heron and Brearley to change the building’s use to residential.

The brewery said the pub was was not viable in the winter and had only limited trade during the summer.

Rejecting the application (18/00870/C), planners said the evidence ’was insufficient to justify the loss of the public house’.

And they said it had ’not been adequately demonstrated that the use is no longer, or cannot be made, commercially viable’.
