The man behind Dave’s Delicious Dogs, Dave Valkema, is seeking to make further improvements to his store in St Paul’s Square in Ramsey.
Mr Valkema has applied (19/00032/B) to government planners to make several alterations to his store front, including the introduction of a seated area outside in Church Walk.
He is also seeking to replace the shop front of units 2 and 3 on Church Walk in St Paul’s Square with a fully glazed folding system.
The plans include a rear ventilator and extractor system to the rear of the property. Mr Valkema is also seeking to add new signage to the front of the store to run across the top of units 2 and 3, with a centre piece down the middle between the two fixed to the wall.
The signage would all be illuminated.
The planned outside seating area would not extend out of the front of store.
Instead it would be enclosed by a barrier on the inside of the path which goes around the square so would not block the walkway.
Since taking on the store in Ramsey just over a year ago, the business has expanded to include two units there as well as its sister shop on Ballaquayle Road in Douglas.
Taking inspiration from his grandparents’ heritage Dutch and German, Mr Valkema’s business model of using Manx meat and blending it with their recipes, has proven popular.
