An application (19/00957/B) to amend a previously-approved planning proposal has been withdrawn.
Hartford Homes had sought to amend application (18/00862/B) by adding two extra houses and a change in the type of houses that would be built at Annacur Lane in Douglas.
No reason was given for withdrawal of the new application. It means it will go back to its previous proposal.
The new application was very similar to the previous one, with the only difference being the inclusion of two additional homes which would have been facilitated by creating more terraced housing.
In its new application, Hartford Homes said that by making changes from detached to semi-detached housing, it would also increase the total area of open space available to residents.
If it had been approved, the 18 homes would have included 14 four-bed homes and four two-bed homes, which would be for affordable housing.
As a result of the withdrawal, the company’s previously approved application for 16 homes will remain unchanged.
Some concerns were raised by the planning officer Chris Balmer in his report into the initial application.
However, none of them were considered reasons to not recommend the approval of the application when it appeared before the planning committee at the start of the year. Due to the lack of open space, a commuted sum of £17,952 has been agreed with Douglas Council lieu of the shortfall of on site provision.
