The International Technology Centre (ICT Ltd) is applying for planning permission (21/00249/B) to use its marquee at the Nunnery as an events venue for another three years.

The company first received planning permission to set up its marquee at the site in 2019.

ICT Ltd had originally planned for the marquee to be used to test the ’commercial viability’ of a permanent events venue on the site of the Nunnery’s now-demolished swimming pool - plans for which were approved under a previous application (16/00865/B).

However, the company has since cited numerous delays which caused ’significant disruption’ to the building’s construction.

It noted that lockdowns had resulted in major events being cancelled, which meant that it had not enough time to ’meaningfully test’ the venture’s economic viability.

Pointing out the ongoing uncertainty of the pandemic, ICT Ltd said it believes another three years would be ’sufficient to give them time to test the sustainability of the venue’.
