Just Pizza and Pasta owner Mitch Sorbie has applied to establish his restaurant on Douglas’ North Quay.
The application (19/01445/B) is for the restaurant to open at Clinches Court on the North Quay, formerly Coasters restaurant.
Plans for the building include replacement windows, new cladding to front elevation, fixed awnings and the formation of a recess for a pizza vending machine.
If granted approval, the restaurant will have a seating capacity of 162 spread out over two floors including 26 covered seats outside and the rear conservatory will be removed.
This required a separate application (19/01446/CON) due to the building being in the North Quay conservation area.
The restaurant will continue to use its round oven with the kitchen shown on plans as being located in the centre of the ground floor.
Also planned for the ground floor is a waiting area, while the upstairs seating area would have a bar.
The restaurant has been based in Wellington Street since it opened in 2016 above the former Havana nightclub.
It is not known if Mr Sorbie intends to run two restaurants, however the moving of the famous vending machine would appear to suggest he is moving his business to the North Quay.
The move to the quayside is likely to be the first of several changes to the waterside in the coming years with developments planned for the former Newsons building and the Lord Street bus station site where a multiplex cinema, bars, restaurants and a hotel are planned.
While new flats and regenerations is planned for the South Quay.
