An application (19/01444/B) has been submitted for permission to build 26 homes in Foxdale.
Applicant Dandara is seeking to build the homes on land south of Mines Road, opposite the village’s clock tower.
The property developer’s application said it has designed the houses to fit closely with the mining cottages which characterises the village.
It said: ’The terraced houses at the entrance have intentionally been placed to address the Mines Road in a traditional Manx vernacular form with the gable of the cottage on plot one facing onto the road and running into the rear high garden.’
The homes will include a mix of detached four-bed houses over two storeys and semi-detached and terraced two and three-bed houses over two-and-a-half storeys. And the site will also include the provision of public open space.
Permission has previously been granted for 24 homes on the site, however the four year limit on the approval has now passed.
Part of the application includes the provision of planting a range of trees and plants, which Dandara said is ’predominantly Manx’ including bird cherry, hill cherry, hawthorn ’crimson cloud’, rowan and box leaved honeysuckle.
