The island’s planning committee have been advised to approve controversial plans for a sewage site in Laxey.

Manx Utilities wants to build a sewage treatment works with associated landscaping and bridge for vehicle access at the bottom of Breeze Hill Laxey.

While residents and the local authority have stringently opposed the proposal, Manx Utilities has pushed ahead regardless as it seeks to find a solution to ending raw sewage going into the sea.

The planning committee can choose to reject the advice of planners and reject the proposal, however it will have to do so without its chairman Martyn Perkins as he is also the MHK for Garff.

We will have more information on this in the Manx Independent, in shops Thursday.
